Yo! I found this new place that just opened up in P-Mall and I'm totally in love with it. It's a Korean made cosmetics company called Holika Holika. This is what I got.

I got more, obviously, but I was too lazy to take pics of 'em. Google 'em if you'd like. My sister brought to my attention a site where you can get these for cheaper but this site doesn't have all the items, like this lipstick.

Quick Update

Since it's been forever since our last post, here's a quick update on what I've been loving or starting to get into. Nothing too in depth but it'll keep this site alive and healthy =)

Back to Basics
I've been reverting back to old styles that my mom used to be into when she was my age. A recent purchase on a little black bag/clutch or whatever kinda shows this. It's sleek and simple with an envelope look to it and a little chain as a shoulder strap. I think it was meant to be a clutch though, but I mainly use the shoulder strap.

Pucker Up
Was watching makeup videos on YouTube and saw this guru do this lip look where she stained the inside of her lips so it ombred out into her natural lip colour. I love this look! It's so cutesie and spring-y and very nartural/casual. It also tends to make your lips look smaller or poutier.

I use Urban Decay's lip stain (envy) in Envious. I've had this for awhile and just never really used it. I top it off with a lip balm like MAC's Tendertone in Purring or Hello Kitty lip gloss (is what they call it but it's just a sheer lipstick with a sheen) in Sweet Berry (which is probably not available anymore according to the Sephora site). One thing about this look is that you have to have moisturized and smooth lips else the stain will look all crackle-y.

Spring is also here so I wanna start rocking my orange lipsticks too. This is MAC lipstick in Morange according to their site but the one I own is called Neon Orange which was limited edition and no longer available.

Lashes  are my new obsession. I don't wear them all the time nor do I have that many but I'm starting to really like them. Still getting used to them though since I'm not an expert in applying them yet...yet!

I got myself a Konad set, though I think it's the fake version, but I'll make due with what I've got. Haven't really experiment much with it but so far it's pretty fun. I don't have the special polishes for it so I might have to go out and get that plus I want more designs.

Revlon Lip Butters

It has been so long since I've posted anything (since last year), which was probably not that too long ago, but it still has bee awhile. Therefore, as a little comeback, here's one for you. It's short and super-duper brief but it'll do the job, which is notifying you that we are still alive :D

It was all over YouTube before it even hit shelves within Canada and that is the Revlon ColourBurst Lip Butter! I got mine awhile ago, in Florida, before it was released in Canada but sadly, I was both too busy and too lazy to write about. I apologize :P I picked up two colours: Tutti Frutti and Gumdrop.

Tutti Frutti is a bright orange in the tube but applies semi-sheer on the lips with a nice tint of orange. Perfect for an everyday, casual look. I think it's the second from the left in the first image. I really love orange lip colours but a lot of them are really intense. This one is wonderful, toned down orange.

Gumdrop is a lilac-lavender-ish light purple (I'm very bad with colours) with a bit of sparkle in the tube but this one applies really sheer on the lips with a very subtle tint of purple. This one I find I have to apply more than one coat for the colour to be more apparent but it's very pretty, nonetheless. 

Overall, I really like these Lip Butters. They're moisturizing with a dash of colour so it's good for school or when I'm running errands. Pigmentation varies between the colours so be sure to test it before buying (if you can). But the sheerness just makes them perfect for casual use. I would still turn to my lipsticks for a more statement look.

Five Favourite Make-up Essentials

I don't know why I picked five. I clearly have a lot more than five but perhaps it's 'cuz it sounds better with the word 'favourite,' but either way here it is.

1. NARS Lipstick in Fast Ride

 


I love this lipstick and it also cost me a fortune. Ok not really, but it is very expensive for a lipstick. Fast Ride is a dark purple but when it's on, it's sheer and not as harsh as one would think dark purple would be. What I love about this lipstick is how it looks vampy and sultry yet sophisticated and classy. I also love the packaging but everything NARS makes is awesome, least the packaging anyways (I haven't tried everything they made). Although I'm almost out of this, because it's so expensive, I might not purchase another one for a while. We'll see how desperate I get. ;)

2. Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Dark Circles Eraser (Concealer)

I just recently got hooked on this concealer. I have in the colour 30, which is Medium and it definitely works to erase my dark circles. I love how blendable it is and smooth. It doesn't cake under my eyes and the applicator that's attached to it is soft as well. I don't use it to blend though since it's where all the concealer comes out of, so I usually use my clean fingers or a brush. It was kinda pricey for a drug store concealer but I feel like it's worth it.

3. EOS lip balm in...I forgot the name of it but it's green and has Shea butter

These are the cutest little lip balms ever. I love the shape and the texture and they're super moisturizing. I just went through the corally-pink fruit one and now I'm on my greenish Shea butter one. The only problem I have with these is that sometimes the smell can be annoying, so I tend to change it up once in awhile. Also that due to their round, egg-like shape, it's difficult to store or stash in a small/crowded purse (or even your pockets). Other then that, I love these and I take 'em with me everywhere.

4. Kat Von D Tattoo Eyeliner in Trooper

This eyeliner is my all time favourite liner. It's a pen liner and the tip is so thin! The brush isn't floppy but it isn't so stiff that you poke your lash line. I like how dark the liner is too and the finish when it dries is matte with little to no shine. Love it! I kinda wanna try her other colours but I'll stick with one for now.


5. Voluminous Million Lash mascara

Not only is the mascara good but it's hecka cheap too. I've really been into the plastic-y bend-y brushes for mascara and this one's got it. I like the formula too. Very volumizing.  I have this in black, dunno what kind of black but it's still black and it work wonders to my straight little Asian lashes :P

MAC Holiday Collection 2011

So I was browsing the net and putting off my studies when I happened to come across the MAC Cosmetics website. Like magic, it just appeared on my screen. :P

The MAC Holiday Collection for 2011 is out, but only on the site for now. I haven't seen it in stores yet. They also tend to add new sets later on after it's launch. What I look forward the most whenever MAC launches holiday collections are their brush sets. To be honest, this collection is my first brush set purchase so I'm really excited for it to arrive. I love the glitteriness of the brush handles and the white packaging of the lipsticks and beauty powder. I've always been a fan of simplicity and white. Not so much that silver circle thing on the eyeshadow palettes, though. I know some people aren't really that into the packaging and I understand that. For a holiday collection, it should be a little more extravagant, and I like what I see so I approve.

I love the colours of the baked (or is it mineral) eyeshadows, all the swirls and the colours. Beautiful. I've never really used eyeshadow like that but the thing is, I have so many shadows to begin with, I can't really afford to add to it. What I did add to my collection was the darkest shade of the lipstick. I admit that I mainly purchased it for it's white packaging but we'll see how it looks in person once it arrives. I'm not big on lipgloss but from what I've seen on the site, they're very pretty but nothing special.

I was debating on whether I should purchase the beauty powders (perhaps the darker shade) but I'm not so sure if I truly need it. If you have purchased one, let me know what you think? Is it worth the buy, because I'm not a big powder kind of person. 

We all know that the swatches on the MAC Cosmetic site are not accurate so I was hoping that I could buy them in the store... but I couldn't wait. I'm an impatient little child. I hope you enjoy the new holiday collection and if not I still advise you to take advantage of the sets/kits of the brushes or make-up essentials because you won't get a chance like this until next season.

MAC Cosmetics Fall Collection Private Showing

On Sept 20th, we were able to attend a private showing of MAC Cosmetics' new fall collection before it was open to the public. It was quite exciting for my first MAC private party. I’ve seen it on youtube and I have read blogs about it but never witnessed one first hand. 

When I first saw the store, the glass doors were closed and a black rope extended from a guarded entrance. There wasn’t really a line but inside the store was already quite crowded. Not as crowded as what I thought it would be but pretty close to what I expected. Raghda and I lined up and a woman with a clipboard asked for our name. Raghda gave hers and we entered. We were offered food by these male waiters, who clearly looked like hired models, (I took none since I wasn’t hungry at the time) and a piece of paper and pen to record our purchases. We were told that once we checked off what we wanted to purchase, we should talk to MAC worker to get it for us. Everything seemed well organized and I was impressed.

I had no idea what I was supposed to do. I started to walk around and noticed there was a female model with some body art in a skin toned bikini, but I couldn’t tell which collection she was modeling for. From what I remember, there were three collections presented in the private party: Posh Paradise, Styledriven and the Fall Collection. The Posh Paradise (PP) collection seemed like it was out before so it wasn’t the main attraction of the private party. I say this because I noticed on the website, the PP collection was already there while the Fall collection wasn’t there yet. Styledriven was the same as the PP collection where it was already presented on the website, and it is becoming a permanent line.

The Fall collection was quite interesting. The photos that advertised the collection was a bit odd. Not really Fall oriented and the makeup looks on the models were really “clown” like and bright. The colours varied from light pink to neon orange to dark purple and back to traffic light yellow. At first, I felt that the collection didn’t fit the fall season. I couldn’t imagine those bright lipsticks, eyeshadows, and multi use liners on people in the fall where it's mostly cold with dying leaves on the floor! .... But I stepped out of that sad little box. Purple would be very compatible in fall yet i tend to like purple all year round. I always thought orange was a spring/summer look but it works with the changing colours of the leaves. Reds and pinks work all year round too depending on the shade and the person.


I mainly focused on the lip-wear of the collection, probably because I had no intention of purchasing eyeshadows since I already had too many. I ended up buying a Pro Longwear Lipstick in Soft Sell that was part of the Styledriven collection (which is going to be permanent according to the lady with the two-toned purple lipstick in the store) and a Pro Longwear lipliner in Staunchly Stylish.

The colour is close to a dirty nude colour, perfect for my skin tone but there isn't much difference between the colour of the lipstick and the colour of my lips. I find that it just even the colour out. I also had been planning on getting a long wear lipstick from somewhere but I didn't plan for it to be so toned down. My lipstick collection consists of bright colours and light colours, nothing toned down as this (actually I lied, I have one lipstick this toned down). I quite like what I purchased but I'm planning on going back to get an orange lipstick and maybe that blue liner.

On the topic of what I wore... I did not take a picture of that. Sorry. I was lazy and forgot. I could describe it to you but that would be boring no? MAC Fall Collections Event!

Hey, its Raghda! So last night Mila and I headed over to the MAC fall collection event, there were drinks, food, and loads of wonderful makeup. This being our first MAC event, I didn't quite know what to expect. Would part of the store still be open for business? Did we have to RSVP because there was a guest list, or did they just want to know how many people they should expect? What should I wear!? Well it turned out that they devoted the entire store to the event, there was a fancy guest list/bouncer system at work, and I'll answer that last question in a bit.

Once we entered, we were met with a list of the 3 collections (posh paradise, styledriven and the fall collection) and all of the new items which spanned from brushes to bronzer. When we found something we wanted to purchase, we'd take note of it on the list. The collection that stood out the most for me was the fall collection. It was broken up into 3 groups, the last of which were full of bright colours like creamy cyan eyeliner and neon orange lipstick. The middle was full of a lot of dark and pale neutrals, and the first was nothing to write home about. That night I was set on purchasing a lipstick, and definitely something to stand out from my collection of pinks and reds, and I found it! It was from the bright colours of the fall collection... *drumroll*..Violetta! I tried it on in the store and fell in love..only one problem, where would I possibly wear it?! It's an amplified shade and is shimmery and metallic but all in such a powerful purple. It's definitely not everyday wear, but I kept it on throughout most of the event thinking about it. I finally decided to just get the darn thing, I mean I did want to get something different that night after all. On our way home, I dabbed Violetta over top some toned down lipstick, just in the centre of my lips and it gave the shade a bit of a pop while allowing it to be still very wearable. yay!

And now back to the question from the beginning, what did I wear? Well I was mulling this over for about a week. I knew I wanted to wear a dress, black tights, and some form of outerwear since its getting cooler at night. For a while I was set on a dark blue dress with white polka dots with a navy babydoll coat, but at the last minute I completely changed my mind. Don't you just hate when that happens? I ended up grabbing my sister's Forever 21 dress and paired it with a simple black boyfriend blazer from Dynamite. Added Urban outfitters black tights, favourite black bowler hat via H&M, tan satchel from Pull & Bear, and an old pair of pointed toe flats. On my nails I have H&M's purple with a topcoat of Traffic Stopper Copper from Sephora by OPI. 

**On another note, I've been drawn to purple a lot lately. An old fashion teacher of mine once said that when you see a lot of purple in fashion, it means trends will see a big change. Keep your eyes peeled!
