Gucci's Spring/summer 2011 Line Seems Popular

Three starlets donned similar flapper-esque dresses from the line last Saturday. Thing is, it was an LA Gala sponsored by Gucci! I've heard of wearing the designer to their fashion show, but I have to admit that this is amusing.

From left to right, Zoe Saldana, Camilla Belle, and Evan Rachael Wood.

Evan pulls off the 'roaring 20's' look really well, I love the deep v and gold tone on Zoe's skin, and my favourite part of Camilla's is how amazingly the fringe and shoes suit her legs.
Who do you think wore their Gucci the best? I don't think I can make up my mind!

Polyvore Style Challenge #1

Heyy guys, it's Raghda. So a couple of years ago I joined a site that I'm sure some of you are familiar with called Polyvore. What I would do is find one odd garment, something a bit strange, and I would try to create a complete outfit around it. Well I thought it might be a fun idea for a continuing "challenge", so this is my first entry.

The garment I've decided to work with is a tartan and lace dress with serious shoulder pads and I decided to give it two different looks. Drawing from the off white of the old lace, on the right I have a very sophisticated and luxurious take, whereas on the left I decided to go with mainly a brown and slightly more casual look (as casual you can get with this dress :P).
On the left, the shoes and coat make this look a bit more casual then on the right. The tan and off white accents in the shoe, bag and earrings, as well as the gold in the ring play off of the colour of the lace, whereas the style of the trench and heels dress this look down a tad. The trench is beautiful, but it just needed something to reflect the red of the dress, so I added the rose brooch. Jewelry on both sides are kept minimal since the dress has enough going on. The darker lipstick on the right really adds to the vintage/ classic feel of the simple and lighter additions, whereas the toned down lipstick on the left doesn't draw away from the colours I've decided to play up.

Let me know what you guys think of this idea.

It Arrived

Actually I got it a while ago but was too lazy to write about it but this is about the MAC Holiday collection items that I had ordered online. I posted previous blog on the collection and now these are my thoughts in it once it's in my hands. The collection is now available in stores. I don't know since when but I saw it there two to three days ago.

What I purchased was the brush set and a lipstick.

The lipstick I got is the colour What Joy! According to the site, it's a deep berry colour or just a dark purple  to me with a reddish-brown tint to it. It didn't specify what kind of lipstick it was on the site so when I got it I found out it's Satin but that's ok with me. It's not matte but it's not to shiny either. I like how pigmented it is and the white packaging. It doesn't have the vanilla-ish smell that most MAC lipsticks do or maybe it's just mine. I also noticed that it tends to stain my lips after I take it off. It could be my method or the lipstick. Either way I'm glad I bought this lipstick and I like it very much.

The brush kit was what I was really looking forward to. I was a bit disappointed with the the makeup bag in came with. Clear plastic with a silver circle in the middle which also seems to be a little pocket as well. Not so exciting. The brushes are good quality even if they are smaller and probably not hand made like the full sized brushes. Most of them exist already in full size too so it's all good. The bristles of the brushes are white, which scares me a little 'cuz it might stain, and the handles are clear plastic with silver glitter in them. It's supposed to represent a snow globe according to the site. It's cute and all but too basic. I still like this though and will have great fun with it.

The set came with two face brushes and three eye brushes: 167SE, 168SE, 217SE, 212SE, and 239SE.

Halloween Eyes

I don't do much for Halloween, in fact, I don't do anything at all. So I thought, why not add a little orange to my face :P So here's what I did for work yesterday.

Yeah, they aren't the pretties pictures in the world but it'll have to do. I went all out and did a smoky orange eye with orange lips and a bit of orange on the cheeks. It's Halloween, you're not supposed to be sensible about these things.
