Fab Finds

First off, I apologize for the lack of posts. Both Raghda and I have been quite busy and lazy lol (at least on my part :P

I recently made a purchase at a bazaar that I found intriguing. It's called Blue Heaven: Indian Kajal, an eyeliner. What's more, this particular was used in the movie Sex and the City 2 by the actress Sarah Jessica Park (and her character, Carrie).

The concept of the eyeliner is similar to Guerlain's Khol Kajal or Sephora Collection's Smoky Khol Eyeliner. I think it's technically made by compressed powdered since there's a powder version by Guerlain as well. I also saw powder and paste versions in the bazaar.

The texture of it is kinda weird. It's smudges and all but it stays. It also stays pretty on the waterline. When I first applied it though it was as black as I would have liked it. It was probably due to my using a very, very light hand when applying since a woman at the bazaar was telling me how fragile it is. She was saying how I should be careful 'cuz it'll break easily.

I don't know where or how I'll get my hands on another one when this one finishes or if i breaks. But I'll deal with that when the time comes ;D

How To Style: Gold & Black Bracelet

Hey y'all, it's Raghda.
So Mila had this bracelet and couldn't figure out what to wear it with, and that's where I come in! With the following outfits, I've decided to keep every item as clean and simple as possible, staying mostly with colourings in the same realm of the gold and black in the bracelet so that the beautiful bracelet becomes the focal point. Even when it came to pairing this item with more jewelry, other pieces are kept simple, smaller, or physically farther away from the wrist/bracelet. Anyways, hope you guys enjoy this, there will most likely be more in the future. :)

A Is For Aldo

Hey guys, it's Raghda with the news that Aldo now has a fragrance!
They go by colours, 3 for women (red, yellow, blue) and 2 for men (red and yellow). There's a quiz on aisforaldo.com that has you click the 8 pics that you're drawn to, and your colour/fragrance is chosen based on that.
I played this twice and I'm apparently a yellow!

They come in 75ml & 30ml squared bottles for $45 (yes, they both seem to be the same price), and 10ml tubes for $15. The male fragrance is only available in 75ml. Also on the site are descriptions of the scents, broken down into top notes, mid notes and base notes. That comes in handy when you know exactly the scents that your fond of. I still can't wait to get into the stores and sample these.

Red is for sensual and passionate

Yellow  is for chic, playful and alluring

Blue is for sexy, glamorous and seductive

MEN
Red is for modern classic

Yellow is for sport casual

Smart move for Aldo, it's just in time for holiday shopping!
Cheers,
Raghda

PS- Sorry about the lack of posts lately. A whole lot of stuff coming soon, and get ready to vote on a style challenge! <3

Gucci's Spring/summer 2011 Line Seems Popular

Three starlets donned similar flapper-esque dresses from the line last Saturday. Thing is, it was an LA Gala sponsored by Gucci! I've heard of wearing the designer to their fashion show, but I have to admit that this is amusing.

From left to right, Zoe Saldana, Camilla Belle, and Evan Rachael Wood.

Evan pulls off the 'roaring 20's' look really well, I love the deep v and gold tone on Zoe's skin, and my favourite part of Camilla's is how amazingly the fringe and shoes suit her legs.
Who do you think wore their Gucci the best? I don't think I can make up my mind!

Polyvore Style Challenge #1

Heyy guys, it's Raghda. So a couple of years ago I joined a site that I'm sure some of you are familiar with called Polyvore. What I would do is find one odd garment, something a bit strange, and I would try to create a complete outfit around it. Well I thought it might be a fun idea for a continuing "challenge", so this is my first entry.

The garment I've decided to work with is a tartan and lace dress with serious shoulder pads and I decided to give it two different looks. Drawing from the off white of the old lace, on the right I have a very sophisticated and luxurious take, whereas on the left I decided to go with mainly a brown and slightly more casual look (as casual you can get with this dress :P).
On the left, the shoes and coat make this look a bit more casual then on the right. The tan and off white accents in the shoe, bag and earrings, as well as the gold in the ring play off of the colour of the lace, whereas the style of the trench and heels dress this look down a tad. The trench is beautiful, but it just needed something to reflect the red of the dress, so I added the rose brooch. Jewelry on both sides are kept minimal since the dress has enough going on. The darker lipstick on the right really adds to the vintage/ classic feel of the simple and lighter additions, whereas the toned down lipstick on the left doesn't draw away from the colours I've decided to play up.

Let me know what you guys think of this idea.

It Arrived

Actually I got it a while ago but was too lazy to write about it but this is about the MAC Holiday collection items that I had ordered online. I posted previous blog on the collection and now these are my thoughts in it once it's in my hands. The collection is now available in stores. I don't know since when but I saw it there two to three days ago.

What I purchased was the brush set and a lipstick.

The lipstick I got is the colour What Joy! According to the site, it's a deep berry colour or just a dark purple  to me with a reddish-brown tint to it. It didn't specify what kind of lipstick it was on the site so when I got it I found out it's Satin but that's ok with me. It's not matte but it's not to shiny either. I like how pigmented it is and the white packaging. It doesn't have the vanilla-ish smell that most MAC lipsticks do or maybe it's just mine. I also noticed that it tends to stain my lips after I take it off. It could be my method or the lipstick. Either way I'm glad I bought this lipstick and I like it very much.

The brush kit was what I was really looking forward to. I was a bit disappointed with the the makeup bag in came with. Clear plastic with a silver circle in the middle which also seems to be a little pocket as well. Not so exciting. The brushes are good quality even if they are smaller and probably not hand made like the full sized brushes. Most of them exist already in full size too so it's all good. The bristles of the brushes are white, which scares me a little 'cuz it might stain, and the handles are clear plastic with silver glitter in them. It's supposed to represent a snow globe according to the site. It's cute and all but too basic. I still like this though and will have great fun with it.

The set came with two face brushes and three eye brushes: 167SE, 168SE, 217SE, 212SE, and 239SE.

Halloween Eyes

I don't do much for Halloween, in fact, I don't do anything at all. So I thought, why not add a little orange to my face :P So here's what I did for work yesterday.

Yeah, they aren't the pretties pictures in the world but it'll have to do. I went all out and did a smoky orange eye with orange lips and a bit of orange on the cheeks. It's Halloween, you're not supposed to be sensible about these things.

Products used:
- Revlon Illuminance Creme Shadow in Black Magic 711, using the matte white creme shadow
- Orange, dark brown, and black shadow and a pink-orange  blush from Costal Scents 42 Colour - Double Stack Matte Shadow & Blush Palette (there are no names or numbers on these colours)
- Kat Von D Tattoo liner in Trooper
- Voluminous Million Lashes in black
- Urban Decay 24/7 Glide on Eye Pencil in Zero
- MAC lipstick in Neon Orange
- Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Under eye concealer in Medium

Concealer Tutorial

Hey all, it's Raghda here! For Styleground's first ever video tut, I've decided to do something on concealing under eye circles. Concealing that area has been a bit of an obsession of mine for a while and this is a method that I have found works the way that I like, with pretty full coverage. I hope someone finds this helpful-- washed out lighting, various shambles and chipped nail polish aside. Hey, it can only go up from here, right?! :P

Products used:
Kat Von D Tattoo Concealer (Tan)
Laura Mercier Secret Concealer (6)

Wanna see how I do my full face? A winged eyeliner tutorial perhaps?

Five Favourite Make-up Essentials

I don't know why I picked five. I clearly have a lot more than five but perhaps it's 'cuz it sounds better with the word 'favourite,' but either way here it is.

1. NARS Lipstick in Fast Ride

I love this lipstick and it also cost me a fortune. Ok not really, but it is very expensive for a lipstick. Fast Ride is a dark purple but when it's on, it's sheer and not as harsh as one would think dark purple would be. What I love about this lipstick is how it looks vampy and sultry yet sophisticated and classy. I also love the packaging but everything NARS makes is awesome, least the packaging anyways (I haven't tried everything they made). Although I'm almost out of this, because it's so expensive, I might not purchase another one for a while. We'll see how desperate I get. ;)

2. Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Dark Circles Eraser (Concealer)

I just recently got hooked on this concealer. I have in the colour 30, which is Medium and it definitely works to erase my dark circles. I love how blendable it is and smooth. It doesn't cake under my eyes and the applicator that's attached to it is soft as well. I don't use it to blend though since it's where all the concealer comes out of, so I usually use my clean fingers or a brush. It was kinda pricey for a drug store concealer but I feel like it's worth it.

3. EOS lip balm in...I forgot the name of it but it's green and has Shea butter

These are the cutest little lip balms ever. I love the shape and the texture and they're super moisturizing. I just went through the corally-pink fruit one and now I'm on my greenish Shea butter one. The only problem I have with these is that sometimes the smell can be annoying, so I tend to change it up once in awhile. Also that due to their round, egg-like shape, it's difficult to store or stash in a small/crowded purse (or even your pockets). Other then that, I love these and I take 'em with me everywhere.

4. Kat Von D Tattoo Eyeliner in Trooper

This eyeliner is my all time favourite liner. It's a pen liner and the tip is so thin! The brush isn't floppy but it isn't so stiff that you poke your lash line. I like how dark the liner is too and the finish when it dries is matte with little to no shine. Love it! I kinda wanna try her other colours but I'll stick with one for now.

5. Voluminous Million Lash mascara

Not only is the mascara good but it's hecka cheap too. I've really been into the plastic-y bend-y brushes for mascara and this one's got it. I like the formula too. Very volumizing.  I have this in black, dunno what kind of black but it's still black and it work wonders to my straight little Asian lashes :P

What are your five favourite make-up essentials?
